At 58.6% ABV, the nose opens with intense aromas of ripe fruit, honey, and spiced oak, accompanied by hints of dark chocolate and roasted nuts. The palate is rich and velvety, featuring notes of caramelized orange, dried fruit, and vanilla, which blend seamlessly with a delicate touch of spice and a light nutty finish. This is a new range from independent whiskey grocer Mossburn, which they call Vintage Casks. This whiskey is from the Glentauchers distillery and is a Vintage 2009, bottled at full cask strength at a whopping 57.8% and aged in a used Sauternes cask.

The casks are selected by Master Blender Neil MacLeod Mathiesonn and are bottled without chill filtration and with natural colour. Exclusively for sale at Whisky.dk and in very limited quantities.

The independent bottler Little Brown Dog acquires casks from distilleries across Scotland and bottles them under their own brand—all bottles are adorned with the little brown dog that characterizes the company. Here, they have sourced a cask from Glentauchers.

Little Brown Dog writes:
This cask was originally good mature whisky, but it lacked character and depth, which a good wood finish could help. We paired it with a cask from Pineau des Charentes sweet dessert wine to add fruit and richness. The color resembles Haribo peach sweets that melted on your car dashboard. The nose evokes thoughts of apricot jam on buttered wholegrain toast. On the palate, you experience peach cobbler, the expensive ice cream with the little black dots of vanilla in it, along with notes of white tea. The finish offers well-made crème brûlée, tinned peach juice, and rye spices.

Only 285 bottles of this edition have been produced. It has natural color, is non-chill filtered, cask strength, and is a single cask.
