Every time Foursquare Distillery releases a new rum, Richard Seale – the distillery’s owner and master blender – manages to raise the bar once again. Time and time again, he has outdone himself, much to the delight of rum enthusiasts around the globe.

Where Foursquare 2004 set a new standard in its price range, 2011 follows in its footsteps – and does so with style. It is already regarded as a world-class expression. Just like the iconic 2005 release, Foursquare2011 has been aged for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks, yet brings new layers and nuances to the table.

As is tradition with Foursquare, the rum is a blend of pot still and column still distillates, creating a refined balance between depth and clarity. The ageing has taken place in a mix of first-fill and second fill ex-bourbon barrels, adding complexity and character.

It is produced as a true Single Blended Rum, combining both pot still intensity and the smooth elegance of column distillation in a balanced and complex profile. With 15 years of maturation in Barbados’ warm climate, the rum develops a richness and maturity that only genuine tropical ageing can deliver.

The flavour profile is deep and dry with clear layers of dried fruit, citrus, roasted nuts and oak. The bourbon casks contribute notes of vanilla, caramel and coconut, while the cognac casks add a more fruity and refined vinous character. The high strength of 62% provides a concentrated and full-bodied mouthfeel, yet the balance remains intact, allowing spice, fruit and wood notes to shine through. The finish is long, warm and complex with a distinct but pleasant dryness.
