Summer on Fur smells of elderflower along the dikes, a scent that lasts only a few weeks but has been captured here in a bottle.

    The Expert's Description

Fur Malt is a Danish akvavit at 38% ABV, spiced with elderflower and produced by Fur Bryghus on the island of Fur in the Limfjord.

The name Malt refers to the bottle's place within Fur Bryghus' snaps series rather than a malt-heavy base spirit, it is elderflower that carries the flavour. The akvavit is brewed together with the micro-distillery Braunstein in Køge, like the rest of the series.

The island of Fur is known for its moler, a pale, mineral-rich clay stone formed from volcanic ash millions of years ago, and it is through these very layers that the brewery's spring water is filtered.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Floral, perfumed elderflower aroma, with a touch of lime and freshly cut grass.

    Palate

Light and elegant, where elderflower brings a floral sweetness while a faint bitterness keeps the flavour crisp and dry.

    Finish

Short to medium, floral with a dry, lightly spiced close.
