This exclusive vintage edition of Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer is a complex and powerful dark ale, brewed only once a year on the 24th of February – in honour of Emperor Charles V’s birthday.

The 2018 version offers a deep malt profile with notes of dark caramel, dried fruit, spices, and a touch of chocolate and burnt sugar. The high alcohol content is beautifully integrated, providing a warm, vinous finish that makes it ideal for enjoying now or for ageing further.

Serving suggestion:
Best enjoyed at 10–14°C in a wide glass to fully experience the aroma. Perfect with dark chocolate, strong cheeses, duck breast – or simply as a contemplative sipper.

Fun fact:
Cuvée van de Keizer ages gracefully over time – if you have the patience, the depth of flavour will only grow more refined.
