There's beer, and then there's beer that has spent time breathing inside a used bourbon barrel. Siren's Caribbean Chocolate Cake is the latter - dark chocolate and caramel, slow and heavy, like a dessert that insists on being savoured.

Expert description of Siren CCC Caribbean Chocolate Cake Barrel Aged Tropical Stout

Caribbean Chocolate Cake Barrel Aged is a rich Tropical Stout at 8.4% from the English brewery Siren Craft Brew. The base beer is conditioned on staves from used bourbon barrels, adding caramel, vanilla and a distinct oak character on top of the already rich flavours of dark chocolate, cocoa and roasted nuts - a luxurious, intense experience for anyone after a deep, sophisticated stout.

Siren Craft Brew was founded in 2013 by Darron Anley in Finchampstead, Berkshire, and has since won international recognition for its experimental approach to flavour, including several titles as one of the UK's best breweries. The Caribbean Chocolate Cake series has become something of a flagship for the brewery, showing just how far a stout can be stretched with barrel ageing and tropical notes.

    Tasting Notes

Frequently Asked Questions about Siren Caribbean Chocolate Cake Barrel Aged

Is Siren Caribbean Chocolate Cake Barrel Aged worth the money?

Yes, if you love intense, barrel-aged stouts. Siren is one of the UK's most acclaimed craft breweries, and the bourbon barrel ageing adds a complexity usually only found in pricier, long-matured specialty releases.

How does this version compare to the other CCC variants?

The Barrel Aged edition is the boldest and most complex in the CCC series, with clear bourbon and oak character on top of the chocolate. The other variants (Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate) are more directly chocolate-focused without barrel ageing.

What food pairs well with Caribbean Chocolate Cake Barrel Aged?

It works best as a dessert beer on its own, but also pairs well with dark chocolate cake, cigars or bold, aged cheeses.

What temperature should it be served at?

Serve it at 10-14°C in a wide beer glass or snifter, so both the chocolate and barrel notes can open up.

What is Siren Craft Brew known for?

Siren Craft Brew is an English brewery from Finchampstead, Berkshire, founded in 2013 by Darron Anley. It's known for experimental, flavour-intense beers and has repeatedly won awards as one of the UK's best breweries.

How long can this beer be stored?

This batch is best before 23/10/2026. As a barrel-aged stout it tends to develop positively when stored cool and dark, but it's best enjoyed before the best-before date.
