The name Dos Maderas means "two woods" and refers to the long journey the rum makes from the Caribbean to Jerez in Spain, where it receives a final finish in sherry casks.

    Expert Description

Dos Maderas 5+3 is a Caribbean Ron Añejo, double-aged in bourbon and sherry casks, bottled at 37.5%.

The rum is produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, the Spanish sherry house founded in 1877 in Jerez, which helped establish Spain's first official Denominación de Origen for sherry in the 1930s. The rum blend behind Dos Maderas is sourced from several Caribbean countries and first ages for 5 years in ex-bourbon casks in the tropical climate, before being shipped to Jerez to mature a further 3 years in casks that previously held the house's oldest sherry. The number 5+3 in the name refers directly to this two-stage ageing.

The result is a round, sherry-forward rum, where dried fruit and caramel meet a soft, lightly winey finish.
