Clynelish 2011 Little Brown Dog 14 Year Secret Highland Distillery Malt Whisky 56.5%

This 14‑year‑old “Secret Highland” from Little Brown Dog is in reality a Clynelish – just not allowed to be named as such. Instead, LBD has decorated the label with a whole crowd of cats, a humorous reference to the distillery’s iconic wildcat logo. On the back label you’ll even find a what3words geotag pointing directly to the distillery’s still house. A small, cheeky detail for those in the know.

The whisky is created by vatting two bourbon hogsheads from 2011, bottled in 2025 at full cask strength of 56.5%. Only 480 bottles in total. This is Clynelish in the perfect balance between cask influence and the classic, beloved “waxy” character that makes the distillery so sought after among enthusiasts. At 14 years, it hits the exact point where fruit, wax, and the sweetness of the bourbon casks merge into a harmonious and intense Highland experience.

The flavour profile is typical of mature Clynelish: waxy citrus fruits, honey, vanilla, mineral notes, and a creamy texture that lingers. The bourbon casks contribute a clean, bright sweetness, while the spirit’s natural richness and depth shine through without interference.

This is a whisky for those who love Clynelish in its most authentic form – raw, waxy, fruit‑driven, and bottled without compromise. A rare opportunity to taste an independent bottling that lands right in the sweet spot between age, strength, and character.

Clynelish -The distillery is located in the seaside resort Brora in the Northern Highlands. In 1817, Clynelish was founded as a beer brewery, but only two years later they started distilling whisky. In 1976, a new distillery was built next to the old one to produce a lightly smoked malt as opposed to the smoked version Brora that was produced at the original distillery until 1983.

The special bottlings from the Distillery range are exclusive whiskies for all tastes. Small batches and limited editions from both well-known distilleries and those you should know. Classic peated Islays, velvety Speysides and eminent Highland whiskies. The series presents the very best in Single Malt, namely Single Cask. All the whiskies in the series are bottlings from single casks, carefully selected by us to make the bottling something very special. Only 300-350 bottles are made from each cask. The charm of this is that each whisky is different from the standard bottling and therefore has its own unique character that can either highlight some elements of the standard bottling or be miles away from it.
