Ardnamurchan AD/Cask Strength 0225 is a powerful single malt from Scotland’s west coast, bottled at cask strength without chill filtration or added color. It combines maritime peat smoke with citrus, fruit, and spice, crafted with full traceability and sustainable production at the distillery.
Ardnamurchan Distillery is located on the wild west coast of Scotland, on the peninsula of the same name. The distillery is known as The Green Distillery, as all energy comes from local renewable sources: hydro-electric power from the river and biomass boilers fueled by wood chips from nearby forestry. Both draff and pot ale are reused as animal feed on the peninsula, resulting in a very low environmental footprint.
Barley: Both peated and unpeated malt from Bairds Maltings in Scotland
Mashing: Individually designed mashtun, biomass-heated water
Fermentation: Combination of wooden and steel washbacks for complexity
Distillation: Traditional copper stills, with spirit cut around 75% ABV
Maturation: Aged in Ardnamurchan’s own dunnage warehouses, close to the Atlantic Ocean
Bottling: AD/Cask Strength 0225, bottled March 25, 2025, batch of 12,911 bottles
Nose: Coastal peat smoke, vanilla, and fresh citrus zest
Palate: Maritime smoke, orchard fruits, warm oak, and gentle black pepper
Finish: Lingering peat smoke with subtle salted seaweed and sea breeze
