  • Bottle of golden akvavit with sea buckthorn berry label
    Item no.: 22227865378-8265

Sea buckthorn bushes glow orange along the Danish coast in autumn, tart and tough enough to withstand both wind and salt water. That same stubborn freshness is bottled in this akvavit.

    The Expert's Description

Fur Gylden is a Danish akvavit at 35% ABV, spiced with sea buckthorn and produced by Fur Bryghus on the island of Fur in the Limfjord.

The akvavit is part of Fur Bryghus' exclusive snaps series, brewed together with the micro-distillery Braunstein in Køge. Sea buckthorn gives the golden drops their characteristic colour and a tart, sweet berry character that sets it apart from a more classic caraway or dill akvavit.

Fur Bryghus uses water drawn from the island itself, filtered through layers of moler, the pale, mineral-rich clay stone Fur is known for far beyond the Limfjord.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Tart, fruity aroma of sea buckthorn berries, with a light trace of honey and yellow apples.

    Palate

Round and golden in style, where the sea buckthorn's acidity balances a soft sweetness, while the alcohol gives an even, warming undertone.

    Finish

Medium length with a tart, berry-driven finish that slowly gives way to a light spiced warmth.

  • Bottle of Lindores Abbey Distillery Aqua Vitae with abbey-inspired label
    Item no.: 2222786539-8223

In 1494, a friar at Lindores Abbey was recorded in Scotland's Exchequer Rolls making "aqua vitae" for King James IV — the earliest written evidence of Scotch whisky production in existence. Today Lindores Abbey Distillery revives that very story, using herbs foraged from the abbey's own ruins.

    The Expert's Description

Lindores Abbey Distillery Aqua Vitae is a spiced Aqua Vitae from Scotland, bottled at 40%. The bottle is the distillery's tribute to the famous 1494 record, in which the friar John Cor was issued malt to brew "aqua vitae" — the term of the day for what we now call whisky.

Rather than resting in cask, Lindores Abbey macerates and infuses the spirit with herbs and plants foraged from the abbey ruins: sweet cicely, cleavers and lemon verbena, rounded out with douglas fir. The base is distilled in traditional pot stills, and the result is a natural, herbal spirit with no added sugar — a living echo of how aqua vitae may have tasted long before whisky as we know it existed.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Light top notes of peach and pear, giving way slowly to ginger, clove and cinnamon.

    Palate

Rich caramel sweetness meets the fresh herbs from the ruins, with a faint resinous note of fir in the background.

    Finish

Light and herbal, as the spices fade gently into a fresh, green close.

  • Bottle of O.P. Anderson Extra Oak Barrel Matured snaps with classic label
    Item no.: 2222786539-8045

Anise, caraway and fennel have accompanied Swedish tables since 1891. In this edition, the classic spices are joined by oak and sherry, laying a warm, dark layer over the familiar snaps.

    The Expert's Description

O.P. Anderson Extra Oak Barrel Matured is a Swedish snaps bottled at 40% ABV.

O.P. Anderson is Sweden's oldest and best-selling aquavit brand, founded in 1891 by Carl August Anderson and named after his father, Olof Peter Anderson. The brand is now owned by the spirits group Anora and has been produced since 2018 at O.P. Anderson's own distillery in Sundsvall. The Extra edition builds on the house's classic spice profile of anise, caraway and fennel, adding an extra layer of character from malt whisky and oloroso sherry.

The snaps is matured for six months in large oak casks, which softens the strong anise, caraway and fennel notes and adds hints of sherry, dried fruit and a touch of smoke. The result is a rounder, more complex snaps with a long finish.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Caraway and fennel mingle with sherry-like notes of dried fruit and a hint of oak.

    Palate

Full-bodied with spiced notes of caraway, vanilla and dark fruit, plus a touch of smoke.

    Finish

Long and complex, with lingering warmth from the spices and a light smoky impression.

  • Slender bottle with illustrated fairytale motif and pale golden akvavit
    Item no.: 22227865378-701

A summer garden in Odense, dill that smells of childhood, and a story that never quite lets go. That is where this bottle begins, grown from the same soil as the fairy tales themselves.

    The Expert's Description

HC Andersen Dill Akvavit New Danish Fairytale is an organic dill akvavit at 43% ABV, named after Denmark's best-known teller of fairy tales.

The bottle belongs to the "New Danish Fairytale" range, which wraps classic Danish akvavit tradition in a modern, story-driven presentation tied to Hans Christian Andersen's world. It is built on an organic grain spirit in which dill carries the main flavour, the legal requirement for anything labelled akvavit in Denmark.

The organic starting point means both grain and herbs are grown without artificial fertiliser or pesticides, giving a cleaner, more direct expression of the dill itself.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Fresh dill fronds and a touch of aniseed meet a light citrus lift, giving the akvavit a green, summery character.

    Palate

Soft and herbaceous with dill at the centre, carried by a gentle sweetness and a warmth that builds slowly.

    Finish

Long and clean, with dill lingering for several seconds, rounded off by a light spiced warmth.

  • Bottle of Fary Lochan cask-aged aquavit in golden amber colour
    Item no.: 22227865482-407

Four years in a French oak cask that once held red wine gave this aquavit a sweetness and depth rarely found in Danish snaps.

    The Expert's Description

Fary Lochan Fadlagret Aquavit Danish Snaps is a Danish aquavit from the distillery in Farre near Give, bottled at 42% ABV.

Like the distillery's other cask-aged snaps, this one starts as Fary Lochan's fresh nettle snaps. But the path here is different: the cask is French oak that previously held red wine, and a full 4 years in this cask gives the aquavit a pronounced sweetness and a unique character that still recalls whisky, but in its own particular way.

The result is a softer, sweeter cask-aged snaps than the distillery's Laphroaig-aged version – two different roads to the same destination: showing what time in a cask can do to a simple nettle snaps.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Sweet and round, with notes of red wine, dark berries and a hint of French oak.

    Palate

Soft and full-bodied, where the red wine cask's sweetness meets the nettle's green base and a light vanilla from the oak.

    Finish

Medium length and sweet, with a warm, faintly wine-like finish that fades slowly.

While the distillery's other cask-aged snaps matures in a used Laphroaig cask, this version rests a full 4 years in French oak that once held red wine – twice as long, but a completely different result.
