Three recipes, one set - Miniature Selection Mix is a journey through the O.P. Anderson aquavit universe in small, convivial bottles. Perfect when curiosity outweighs the wish to open three full-size bottles.

    The Expert's Description

O.P. Anderson Miniature Selection Mix is a Swedish organic aquavit tasting set at 37% ABV, in ten miniature bottles of 5 cl each.

The set brings together three of the house's classic aquavits in pocket format: the full-bodied Original with caraway, anise and fennel; the fresh, unaged Klar with dill and citrus; and the milder Petronella with a touch of apple. That makes it ideal for tastings, gifting or a festive table where guests get to compare styles without sharing one big bottle.

The nose ranges from the spiced, cask-influenced Original, via the green, citrus-fresh Klar, to the soft, lightly fruity Petronella.

    Palate

The palate shifts from full and spiced to fresh and clean to softly rounded with apple, depending on which miniature is opened.

The light over Nexo falls low across the rocks, and the glass catches that same amber glow. It is a taste grown from grain and spice left to rest quietly together.

    The Expert's Description

Snaps Bornholm Blond is an organic golden aquavit from Bornholm with an alcohol strength of 40%.

The bottle belongs to Snaps Bornholm and Bornholm Spirits' core range, where the golden Blond is the counterpart to the clear Frost. It is distilled from organic wheat and local spring water that has rested and matured in Bornholm's bedrock for a very long time, giving the aquavit a mild and clean base to build its flavour on.

What makes Blond stand apart is the interplay of cardamom, St. John's wort and a touch of black pepper. Together they create a nuanced, spicy and round character that warms the palate without ever turning sharp, and the bottle shows visible legs in the glass as a sign of body.

Sometimes the best snaps isn't the one everyone already knows, but the one that makes the lunch table pause for a moment. Fary Lochan Valnødsnaps is exactly that kind of bottle, round and thoughtful, far from the sweet, floral classics.

    The Expert's Description

Fary Lochan Valnødsnaps is a Danish snaps bottled at 36% ABV from the Fary Lochan distillery in Farre near Give.

Fary Lochan builds its snaps range around a single, clear ingredient theme per bottle, the same philosophy behind the distillery's well-known single malt whisky, where every choice of raw material and method should be clearly felt in the glass. The distillery, based in the small village of Farre, is today a family-owned company with around 400 shareholders behind it.

In Valnødsnaps, it's fresh walnuts that set the course. They give a round, clean nutty flavour, which the distillery itself highlights as a snaps that's welcome to stand out on the lunch table once the more traditional akvavits have already made the rounds.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Round nutty aroma of fresh walnuts with a light trace of wood.

    Palate

Clean, distinctive walnut flavour with a soft, round body and a hint of bitterness in the background.

In the forest around Farre grow the same nettles that once led a former communications professional to think of his mother's smoked cheese and start a distillery. Brændenældesnaps is the purest distillation of that story.

    The Expert's Description

Fary Lochan Brændenældesnaps is a Danish snaps bottled at 36% ABV from the Fary Lochan distillery in Farre near Give.

The nettle sits at the very core of Fary Lochan's identity. It was the scent of his mother's smoked cheese from his childhood on Funen that led founder Jens-Erik Jørgensen to gather fresh nettles in the forest and use them to smoke his first batch of whisky malt instead of traditional peat. The same signature plant returns here, used directly in a snaps.

The nettles for this snaps are picked in Farre's own forest, close to the distillery, giving a green, slightly sharp character the distillery itself describes as the taste of Danish forest. It's a noticeably different snaps from the sweet, floral bottles in the range, with a more earthy, raw profile.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Green, slightly sharp aroma of fresh nettles with a trace of damp forest floor.

    Palate

Herbal and lightly peppery, with a raw, green character that feels plucked straight from the forest.

There's a particular scent that drifts through Jutland hedgerows in June, when the elder bursts into white clusters. Fary Lochan Hyldeblomstsnaps captures exactly that moment, when summer is still only a promise.

    The Expert's Description

Fary Lochan Hyldeblomstsnaps is a Danish snaps bottled at 36% ABV from the Fary Lochan distillery in Farre near Give.

Fary Lochan is best known for its single malt whisky, which founder Jens-Erik Jørgensen developed using a distinctive smoking method with nettles instead of peat, an idea he traced back to his mother's smoked cheese from his childhood on Funen. The same craft curiosity carries through into the distillery's snaps range, where each bottle is built around a single, clear ingredient theme.

In Hyldeblomstsnaps, it's the bright, green sense of summer approaching that takes centre stage. Elderflowers give the snaps a floral sweetness and a light, airy character reminiscent of a warm early-summer evening, when the air is still fresh but the sun is truly taking over.

    Tasting Notes

    The Expert's Description

Fary Lochan Forårssnaps is a Danish snaps bottled at 36% ABV from the Fary Lochan distillery in Farre near Give.

The distillery was founded in December 2009 by Jens-Erik Jørgensen, who had dreamed of creating a Danish whisky with a character all its own. Today Fary Lochan is a family-owned distillery with around 400 shareholders, producing whisky and gin alongside a range of snaps and liqueurs built on local ingredients.

The Spring Snaps is built on local and organic spices and herbs, composed to deliver exactly the freshness associated with the first days of spring. Saffron is the defining element, giving the snaps a warm, golden edge that turns the mind toward more southern climates, even though it's brewed in the middle of Jutland.

    The Expert's Description

Brøndum Fadlagret Dansk Snaps is a Danish akvavit at 38% ABV, matured in casks rather than spiced with caraway.

The base is a malt distillate rested for 2.5 years in American whiskey casks before being flavoured with rum, sherry, orange peel and lemon peel. The Expert's Description

O.P. Anderson Gammal Fin is a Swedish organic aquavit at 40% ABV, drawn from the house's historic founding recipe.

The name comes straight from the original label, "Gammal Fin 1ma Aquavit", which Carl August Anderson presented at the Gothenburg Exhibition in 1891 in honour of his father Olof Peter Anderson. The aquavit is matured in oak casks, giving it a golden colour and a fuller, rounder character than the house's clear expression, while the classic spicing of caraway, anise and fennel keeps faith with tradition.

    The Expert's Description

    The Expert's Description

Lysholm Throndhjems Aquavit is a cask-aged Norwegian aquavit at 41.5% ABV.

The aquavit was developed for Trondheim's 1000-year anniversary, celebrated in 1997. The Throndhjems Aquavit Club was behind the development, and in December 1996 people queued for hours to get hold of the numbered bottles, then named Jubileumsaquavit. In 1998, the name was changed to Throndhjems Aquavit after Danish interests raised an objection at the EU court over the name Jubileumsaquavit. The aquavit is cask-aged for 36 months and carries a historic link to Jørgen B. Lysholm, who founded his distillery in 1821 at Lysholms Minde near Trondheim and is regarded as the originator of the entire Linie aquavit concept.

    The Expert's Description

Fru Catharina Lysholm Norsk Akvavit is a Norwegian aquavit at 38% ABV, part of the Lysholm family.

The aquavit is named after Catharina Lysholm, an enterprising businesswoman who, together with her brother Heinrich, ran a trading house in Trondheim in the early 1800s. On her initiative, the ship Trondhjems Prøve sailed to the East Indies in 1805-07, a voyage that was later found to have matured the aquavit on board. That discovery laid the foundation for the whole Linie tradition the rest of the Lysholm family builds on. Fru Catharina is the mildest of the aquavits, with a lower strength and a softer, rounder character.

Long pepper carries a quiet hum that slowly wakes in the glass — a spiced pulse from distant trade routes, met by Copenhagen craftsmanship. The aroma unfolds like low autumn light over the Øresund, warm and unexpected all at once.

    The Expert's Description

Copenhagen Distillery Long Pepper is a Danish aquavit bottled at 41% ABV.

The bottle comes from Copenhagen Distillery, an experimental craft distillery founded in 2014 in the Danish capital, working with organically certified wheat and barley in its spirits. The Long Pepper expression builds on classic aquavit made with dill, but adds an extra layer of exotic character through long pepper (Piper longum) — a spice that reached the Nordics via ancient trade routes long before round pepper became common in European kitchens.

The result is a soft, fruity aquavit where the anise-like sweetness of dill meets the mild, warm spice of long pepper, while hints of lemon zest and black tea add depth and freshness. It is an aquavit that respects tradition while still moving a step further.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Golden in the glass, with the scent of fresh dill and ripened grain — D Aurum wears its name with good reason. Born from a classic recipe, it is finished on oak casks, where time leaves its quiet mark.

    The Expert's Description

D Aurum Gylden Dild is a Danish aquavit at 40% ABV, built on the recipe behind D-Argentum.

Behind the bottle stands a Danish aquavit producer that lets grain spirit and fresh dill steep together before the aquavit rests on oak casks. It is this ageing that gives the spirit its golden hue and its round, gently sweet character — without added sugar or artificial colouring. The result bridges the traditional dill-led style with the depth only wood can add.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Fresh dill meets sweet notes of vanilla and a touch of toasted oak, carried by a light sweetness from the ripe grain.

    Palate

The wind bites gently over the Limfjord, and in the old mill house on Fur the air smells of cinnamon and orange peel. It is the kind of evening that calls for a small glass of Christmas snaps.

    The Expert's Description

Fur Julesnaps is a Danish akvavit at 38% ABV, made by Fur Bryghus on the island of Fur in the middle of the Limfjord as a Christmas-spiced version of the brewery's Gylden akvavit.

It starts from Fur Gylden, to which rum along with true cinnamon bark and orange peel are added, turning it into a warm, spiced Christmas snaps. The akvavit belongs to an exclusive snaps series that Fur Bryghus produces together with the micro-distillery Braunstein in Køge.

Fur Bryghus is one of Denmark's first microbreweries, founded in 2004, based on the island itself, where it also draws on mineral-rich spring water filtered through the island's layers of moler.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Warm cinnamon bark and orange peel meet a sweet rum character, with a background trace of sea buckthorn from the base akvavit.

    Palate

Spiced and round, with cinnamon and citrus peel upfront, while the rum brings soft sweetness and the sea buckthorn holds it together with a light tartness.

Along Denmark's windswept west coast, bog myrtle grows wild among the dunes and heather, its scent resinous and sharply green. Fary Lochan bottled that raw Danish plant exactly as it is, with nothing added to soften it.

    The Expert's Description

Fary Lochan Danish Porsesnaps is a Danish snaps from the distillery in Farre near Give, bottled at 36% ABV.

Bog myrtle, known in Danish as pors, is a wild shrub that grows on heathland and among the dunes along Jutland's west coast. Fary Lochan uses only fresh bog myrtle in this snaps – no extracts, no extra spices – letting the raw ingredient speak for itself.

The result stands apart from several of the distillery's other snaps in its simplicity. Fary Lochan itself recommends using this Porsesnaps in a cocktail, where raspberry and liquorice pair well with bog myrtle's spiced character.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Green and resinous, with a hint of pine and wild heather carried by bog myrtle's faintly camphor-like aroma.

    Palate

Clean and direct, with bog myrtle's bitter, spiced character in front and a soft undercurrent of sweetness from the grain spirit.

    Finish

Dry and herbal, with a lingering spice reminiscent of juniper and windswept heath.

Bog myrtle, also called sweet gale, is one of the few Danish wild plants still used commercially to flavour alcohol – it was traditionally used to season beer long before hops became common in Denmark.
