There's a particular scent that drifts through Jutland hedgerows in June, when the elder bursts into white clusters. Fary Lochan Hyldeblomstsnaps captures exactly that moment, when summer is still only a promise.
The Expert's Description
Fary Lochan Hyldeblomstsnaps is a Danish snaps bottled at 36% ABV from the Fary Lochan distillery in Farre near Give.
Fary Lochan is best known for its single malt whisky, which founder Jens-Erik Jørgensen developed using a distinctive smoking method with nettles instead of peat, an idea he traced back to his mother's smoked cheese from his childhood on Funen. The same craft curiosity carries through into the distillery's snaps range, where each bottle is built around a single, clear ingredient theme.
In Hyldeblomstsnaps, it's the bright, green sense of summer approaching that takes centre stage. Elderflowers give the snaps a floral sweetness and a light, airy character reminiscent of a warm early-summer evening, when the air is still fresh but the sun is truly taking over.

Did You Know?
Fary Lochan founder Jens-Erik Jørgensen found the idea for the distillery's famous nettle-smoking during a walk in the forest, where he gathered fresh nettles to experiment with his first batch of whisky malt. The same curiosity about local plants defines the snaps range today.
