A dew-soaked dill patch on an early summer morning, a slice of rye bread with shrimp and a spoonful of mayonnaise. Aalborg Dild bottles that whole picture into a single glass - green, fresh and ready to pour beside the seafood platter.

    The Expert's Description

Aalborg Dild Akvavit is a Danish akvavit at 38% ABV, made from a distillate of fresh green dill herb along with dill and lemon peel.

The spirit was originally launched in a 50cl bottle, created because Danish akvavit lacked a variant built specifically for fish and shellfish. Its success led to a 2010 relaunch in the classic 70cl Aalborg bottle.

Where many other akvavits lean on caraway, Aalborg Dild is built around the fresh, herbal taste of dill, rounded off with a touch of citrus that gives it extra lightness.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The aroma immediately conjures dew-fresh green dill, rounded off with a touch of citrus.

    Palate

The palate is mild and spiced with clear dill upfront, carried by a light tartness from the lemon peel.

    Finish

The finish carries discreet hints of anise, giving a light, herbal close.
