Gin is originally from the Netherlands and is a contraction of the French word for juniper. They started mixing alcohol with juniper in the 17th century for kidney pain. This spread to England, and the English soldiers got a taste for it. The gin was later sold at the pharmacy and used against ailments. Today, gin is known for use in drinks such as gin and tonic, dry Martini and Tom Collins.

The choice fell on the Yuzu fruit, which comes from Japan. Yuzu was the perfect choice as this fruit combines freshness and strength with aromatic elegance. Årø Vingård Sommergin is a Danish London Dry Gin distilled in the traditional way on the vineyard’s own equipment. The gin is crafted using botanicals gathered from the coastal meadows on Årø Kalv, where the wild herbs provide a unique local character and a clear sense of the island’s nature.
The flavour is soft and smooth with a mild sweetness and a medium bitterness, creating a harmonious and summery expression. Juniper forms the classic backbone, while liquorice root and coriander seeds add warmth and depth. Coastal mustard brings a subtle spicy lift, and rosehip leaves round off the profile with an elegant floral note.
