Scotland's new rum is distilled from 100% freshly pressed sugar cane juice and is therefore called a 'rhum agricole' - agricultural rum. It tastes of fresh citrus fruits and summer flowers and smells of freshly cut grass. We've been to South America to make this rum because we have to distill the rum close to the sugarcane fields as the juice can't stay fresh across the Atlantic. It started as an experiment but has ended up as a fantastic fruity rum that tastes like freshly pressed sugar cane. With Skotlander Agricole Rum you can make the most amazing Mojitos or Piña Coladas, where you can clearly taste the freshly pressed sugar cane in the finished cocktail. Lower boiling point The rum is then distilled by Scotland's own master distiller Anders Bilgram at an altitude of 2,600 meters. The altitude provides a lower boiling point, which results in a gentler boil and more of the fine aromas are retained in the final product. The rum distillate is shipped to Denmark and then diluted to 40% alcohol with water from our own borehole in Northern Jutland.
