No smoke. Just the pure single farm malt from Djursland at 52.2%. Sall Whisky's GLØD series is the answer to the question of what happens when all focus is placed on the grain – not the peat.

    Expert description

Sall Whisky GLØD 3.2 is an Organic Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 52.2% from Sall Whisky in Djursland, Jutland. The whisky is batch 3.2 of the ongoing GLØD series – the distillery's unpeated expression. GLØD shows what Sall Whisky's single farm malt is made of when peat is not part of the story: the organic Jutland grain, the fermentation and the clean distillate. 52.2% is bottled without dilution and gives direct access to the malt's natural sweetness and fruitiness.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Clean and fruity – organic grain, a light sweetness and a hint of woodland berries from the fermentation. No smoke, but a clear character from the North Jutland single farm malt.

    Palate

52.2% is a good strength for bringing out the organic malt's nuances. Cereal and fruity with a light sweetness and a touch of honey and light citrus.

    Finish

Fresh and medium length with the grain's natural sweetness as the closing note.

    Did you know?

GLØD and TØRV are Sall Whisky's two parallel series – the same single farm malt, the same distillery, two completely different profiles. Comparing the two is a unique exercise in what peat actually does to a distillate: everything else is the same. This is especially interesting because the malt base is from the same farm and harvest.

Frequently asked questions about Sall Whisky GLØD 3.2

    What is the GLØD series?

GLØD is Sall Whisky's unpeated series – a continuous line of single malt whisky batches without peat smoke, bottled from the organic single farm distillery on Djursland. Each batch shows the malt's clean character without smoke's influence.

What is the difference between GLØD and TØRV?

GLØD is unpeated – it shows the malt's clean, fruity and grainy character. TØRV is peated – the same distillate, the same farm, but with smoke added via peated malt. Having both gives a unique flavour experience of what peat does to a distillate.

What does GLØD 3.2 taste like?

Clean organic grain, light sweetness from the malt, freshness and a tendency towards fruitiness from the fermentation. No smoke – just the distillate and the malt's own character at 52.2%.

    What is Sall Whisky?

Sall Whisky is an organic Danish single farm distillery on Djursland in Jutland. They grow their own barley that goes in the bottle – a rare concept on a world scale.
