This port wine from Fonseca is a so-called Crusted Port. It gets its name because it has a "crust" in the bottle, or rather a layer of sediment, which is a by-product of the production process. The grapes are processed so that the must is constantly in contact with the grape skin, which gives it plenty of color. Once the must has fermented for up to several days, brandy is added to stop the fermentation. The port is then aged for 4 years in barrel and then 3 years in bottle. This edition was bottled in 2015. Due to the 'cru', or sediment, this port should be decanted.
