The exciting thing about the "Sherry Cask" edition is that it has first had 5 years of hibernation in Oloroso Hogshead sherry cask and finally a blast of a finish in a used Ardbeg cask for 1 year. The color experience in the glass as being deep Mahogany. When you greet this beauty, you are greeted by a scent that tells you that there are hints of fruit like fresh plums. You can detect a hint of cinnamon and marzipan, which surprisingly harmonizes well with the fresh plums. The fun thing that meets the nose is the light smoke and a hint of old attic space. The whisky has a fullness that is sweet, oily and jammy. The cask makes itself known through notes reminiscent of a Cuban cigar box and freshly sharpened pencil. The cask goes into an exciting combination with sweet dried fruits reminiscent of a homemade thick jam and a hint of fresh maple syrup. The smoke and wood give the whiskey a character reminiscent of leather you only find in somewhat older whiskies. The whisky says goodbye nicely in a long finish dominated by sweetness, smoke and leather.
