Dailuaine 16 Year Old 70cl / 43%Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Flora & Fauna A delicious bottling from a rather obscure distillery. Big, rich, sweet and smoky, with a very smooth mouthfeel and plenty of fruits and spices. One of our favorite sherry monsters. A special dram for after-dinner enjoyment and reflection. Furthermore, as only 2% of the distillery's output goes into single malt, this bottling is only available through specialistsDailuaine distillery which can be found between the mountain Ben Rinnes (The Ben) and the river Spey at the village of Carron, was founded by William Mackenzie in 1852. Dailuaine, pronounced "Dal-oo-ayn", means 'green vale' and it ever so accurately describes its verdant surroundings.The distillery's ideal location was likely no accident - the water from Bailliemullich Burn was of good quality, there was a local supply of barley and it was close to the Great North of Scotland Railway line. Dailuaine even had its own station and workers, raw materials and the finished product were transported by rail for a century until the demise of the railway. The distillery's own 'pug' steam locomotive has been restored and is on display at the Aberfeldy distillery. Flora & Fauna serienSingle Malt Scotch Whisky in Flora & Fauna series bottlings. In 1992 United Distillers started their Flora & Fauna series consisting of 26 different Scotch Single Malts to highlight the diversity of Scotland's Whisky regions. The range was first bottled at 43% in 70cl bottles. Later some expressions have been issued at Cask Strength.The Flora & Fauna has been discontinued (in 2010 ?) by the current owner Diageo.
