American whiskey is produced with a minimum of 51% corn, as it is a plentiful crop in the US. American whiskey production began in the northern states and was introduced to the US by Scottish and Irish immigrants. Later, production moved south to Kentucky and Tennessee, two states well-known today for their whiskey production. Bourbon is especially recognized as a product of Kentucky, while a brand like Jack Daniels is the most famous Tennessee whiskey. There are several types of American whiskey, of which these three types are the most common - all of which you can find here at Whisky.dk:

Expert description
Roughstock Montana Straight Rye Whiskey is the distillery's rye-based expression, bottled at 45%. RoughStock Distillery opened in Bozeman, Montana, in 2009 and was both the first legal distillery in the state since Prohibition and the first to open in Montana in over 100 years, made possible by a 2005 change in state law. The distillery was founded by fourth-generation Montanans Bryan and Kari Schultz, who mortgaged everything they owned to realise the idea that 'Montana' and 'whiskey' belonged together. Unlike most American whiskeys, RoughStock uses local Montana barley instead of corn and rye.

At the foot of the Bridger Mountains in southwestern Montana, there used to be a distillery that insisted on doing things the hard way – no sourced spirit, no shortcuts, just local grain and cold mountain water. The place is gone now, but the bottles remain.
The Expert's Description
RoughStock Montana Straight Bourbon Whiskey is an American Straight Bourbon Whiskey blended from four different bourbon recipes and bottled at 45%.
RoughStock Distillery opened in 2008 in Bozeman as Montana's first legal distillery since the end of Prohibition – and the first ever to make Straight Bourbon Whiskey in the state. Behind it stood husband-and-wife team Bryan and Kari Schultz, who built their bourbon from four separate recipes with varying amounts of corn, wheat, rye and malted barley. Each recipe is distilled twice in copper pot stills and matured for at least two years in heavily charred virgin oak before distiller Bryan Schultz marries the four whiskeys into the final bourbon. The distillery closed in 2016, so every bottle still circulating today is a piece of finished Montana history.
The water comes from the many mountain streams formed as snow melts in the Bridger range, and that same raw, unpolished approach runs through the whole process – nothing bought in, everything mashed, distilled and matured on site.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Barley and dried hay meet toasted grain notes, vanilla and nuts, with a hint of orange peel and fresh bread in the background.
Palate
Tobacco and leather are balanced by dark chocolate, ripe plums and caramel, while a warm honeyed sweetness ties it together.
Finish
Long and warming, with ginger and clove that linger well after the last sip.

WhistlePig 15 Year Straight Rye Whiskey has matured for 15 years, one of the brand's older expressions, bottled at 46%. WhistlePig was founded by Dave Pickerell, former master distiller at Maker's Mark and often called the 'godfather of craft distilling', who bought an old dairy farm in Shoreham, Vermont, in 2007. Pickerell took a bold gamble by investing in 10-year-old rye whiskey from an undisclosed Canadian distillery, made from 100% rye, at a time when rye whiskey had not yet been rediscovered by the American market. The distillery officially opened in 2015 in a renovated 150-year-old barn and is today the world's most awarded producer of rye whiskey.

Blanton's is named after Colonel Albert Bacon Blanton, who started as an office boy at the Buffalo Trace distillery at age 16 and became the company's president in 1921, a role he held until 1952. He personally selected the best 'honey barrels' from Warehouse H for his guests and bottled whiskey one barrel at a time. In 1984, master distiller Elmer T. Lee honoured him by launching the world's first modern single-barrel bourbon, based on barrels from that same warehouse.

Michter's US 1 Small Batch Original Sour Mash Whiskey is the distillery's sour mash expression, a style dating back to the company's earliest history, bottled at 43%. Michter's history dates back to 1753 and Shenk's Whiskey, considered America's first whiskey company, founded in Pennsylvania. Around 1860 the distillery changed its name to Bomberger's, and in the 1950s the name Michter's was created — named after the sons Michael and Peter, whose names were combined into 'Mich-ter's'. After a bankruptcy in 1989, the trademark was revived in the 1990s by Joseph J. Magliocco and his mentor Dick Newman, who moved production to Kentucky. Today Michter's operates from three locations around Louisville: the large Shively Distillery, where production takes place, the historic Fort Nelson building, and a farm in Springfield.

Like the rest of the Single Barrel range, it's drawn from a single barrel. Jack Daniel's Distillery was founded in 1866 by Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and is officially registered as America's first distillery. All production still happens on the same site, where the whiskey is filtered drop by drop through nearly 3 metres of sugar maple charcoal before going into new, charred oak barrels — the Lincoln County Process that defines Tennessee Whiskey.
Bottled at 45%, giving it the strength needed to carry the rye character through.

The cocktail is built on Jefferson's 6-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon, originally distilled to 125 proof and reduced to 82 proof, before being blended with sweet and dry vermouth in a 'Perfect Manhattan' style, along with barrel-aged spiced cherry bitters. After blending, the cocktail is aged a further roughly 4 months in used bourbon casks before bottling at 68 proof — a process that gives it a deeper, more integrated character than a freshly mixed Manhattan.

According to legend, Bronfman tested over 600 different blends before arriving at the final recipe, presented to the royal couple in a decanter wrapped in a purple velvet bag with gold embroidery. The whisky is produced today at the distillery in Gimli, Manitoba, on the shore of Lake Winnipeg, where about 80% of the grain comes from the local region, and the water is naturally filtered through limestone.

Michter's history dates back to 1753 and Shenk's Whiskey, considered America's first whiskey company, founded in Pennsylvania. Around 1860 the distillery changed its name to Bomberger's, and in the 1950s the name Michter's was created — named after the sons Michael and Peter, whose names were combined into 'Mich-ter's'. After a bankruptcy in 1989, the trademark was revived in the 1990s by Joseph J. Magliocco and his mentor Dick Newman, who moved production to Kentucky. Today Michter's operates from three locations around Louisville: the large Shively Distillery, where production takes place, the historic Fort Nelson building, and a farm in Springfield.
