STAUNING RYE - November 2018 50cl / 50% Danish Straight Rye Whisky Only 4800 bottles made. We are ready with our next (Young) Rye - a total of 4800 bottles have been made this time. As always, produced from floor malted barley and floor malted rye. The maturation of the whisky has taken place in Virgin American Missouri White Oak casks - this time divided between 200 liter casks and 50 liter Quarter Cask casks. This makes it very special on a global scale. Rye is difficult to handle and even more so when it is wet and needs to be malted. For this reason, rye malting is not common in larger distilleries. At Stauning, virtually all processes are done by hand, which means we can handle the malting of rye and you can taste it in the finished product. Connoisseurs will know that rye whiskey is predominantly an American phenomenon, but our enthusiasm for rye whiskey led us to try to emulate the Americans.
