Rosé wine in all its forms By Wine Blogger Max Henrik Krause

Rosé wine in all its forms By Wine Blogger Max Henrik Krause

This time we're highlighting some of the many rosé wines we're getting ready for the upcoming season.

Post by wine blogger Max-Henrik Krause

Spring will soon be here and we can start moving outdoors to enjoy the sun and soak up some much-needed energy. The arrival of spring is also the start of this year's rosé season - although you can drink rosé wine all year round. In fact, rosé wine goes really well with pizza, especially if you have several people eating different pizzas. It can be difficult to find a red or white wine to match everyone's toppings; try rosé next time - which brings us to our COMPETITION! Yes, you read that right. YOU have the chance to win 4 beautiful rosé wines delivered to your doorstep if you meet the eligibility requirements. You can read more about what, how and when further down the page:-)
In other words: If there really is a season for rosé wine, it's about to start. So let's jump right into it

What's the deal with rosé wine?

Good question! Some people mistakenly believe that rosé wine is made by blending white and red wines. This is not the case. Rosé wine is made from red/blue grapes and in the same way as red wine. The difference lies in how long the wine has had skin contact.
Some red wines from Bordeaux, for example, "draw color" from the grape skins for up to 2 weeks. A rosé wine typically only gets between 1 and 2 days of skin contact and is therefore lighter in color than red wine.

However, there is a variant that is not a "real" rosé, namely the German Rotling, also called "Schíllerwein" or "Weissherbst". It is made from red/blue and green grapes that are grown, harvested and vinified together. In general, Rotling is a light, fresh and fruity wine that is popular in Germany and other parts of the world. It can taste very similar to a traditional rosé wine in both color and strength; however, Rotling is often slightly darker in color.

Boujong's Rotling has been a staple in our range for the past 4 years, simply because it tastes good. A light pink uncomplicated wine, with a fresh and fruity flavor and a lovely scent of strawberries. Easy to drink and therefore a great patio wine. Throw an ice cube in the glass when it's really hot

In the same vein, but a "real" rosé wine - i.e. made exclusively from blue grapes, we find Boujongs Rosé Feinherb. Again, a patio wine with a little more sweetness than Rotlingen. Here, too, an ice cube on a hot summer's day would be ideal.

Of course, we've also included a few new additions for this season; just take a look here: From the legendary Christoph Hammel in the Palatinate, we present the exclusive outside of Germany New chicks on the block:

Here you really get your money's worth! A wonderful aroma of summer and sun, a beautiful, beautiful color and a tasty wine that is dry but has a slight sweet element in the aftertaste. We are 100% convinced that this one will be a hit in the coming season:-)

From Hammel also comes the beautiful Sophie Helene Petit Rosé 2022
A harmonious dry, aromatic and fruity rosé with stimulating freshness. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Dornfelder grapes. In addition to a beautiful color, this wine also has a wonderful fruity aroma and a delightful taste. Great with antipasti, pasta, seafood, BBQ, vegetarian and grilled food - or just to sit and enjoy with snacks.
.

Also Hammel´s Für Mich Soll´s Rote Rosén Regnen is an absoutely exciting acquaintance on the rosé front. In May 2020, this wine won an impressive 8th place in a large blind tasting organized by German Wines in Berlin. Here, 100 rosé wines from all over Germany were tasted. Deliciously juicy and dry rosé with a fine aroma of red berries as well as spices and a little bit of wood from the barrel aging. A high end rosé wine that goes perfectly with Mediterranean cuisine, as a party starter and for summer barbecues.

Domaine De La Garenne Sancerre 2021 AOP Rosé wine from France

Sancerre 2021 is a lightly spicy rosé wine with fine hints of red berries and fruits. Enjoy it lightly chilled on a summer day at the beach, on the terrace or when thirst calls in the summer heat.

Bodegas Aragonesas Duque de Sevilla Rosé

Duque de Sevilla Rosé is a delicious and affordable rosé wine from Spain. A pretty pink color that evokes associations of sun and summer. The aroma offers a refreshing and intense aroma of red fruits. On the tongue, you get even more impressions of red berries and fruits, while a pleasant, fruity sweetness is nicely balanced with fresh touches.

VIDAL-FLEURY CÔTES-DU-RHÔNE
Since the 1940s, the wine house Vidal-Fleury has been making Côtes-du-Rhône Rosé and year after year of the same high quality level. It is a beautiful rosé made from the classic Rhône grapes: Syrah, Cinsault and Grenache. The aroma is fresh with red flowers and wild berries. The taste is crisp with fine fruit notes and a dry finish. Serve it with Asian dishes, light grilled dishes, salads or as an aperitif.
