Sazerac Rye Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey 70 cl 45%

Sazerac Rye Whiskey, the symbol of New Orleans tradition and history. Rye Whiskey that dates back to the 1800s. Around the time when saloons disguised as coffee houses sprang up on the streets of New Orleans, it was at the Sazerac Coffee House on Royal Street where the local upper class served "toddies" made with Rye Whiskey and Peychauds Bitters. The mixed drink became known as "Sazerac" - America's first cocktail was born, and this is the whiskey that started it all. Aroma: Aromas of clove, vanilla, anise, citrus and pepper Taste: Subtle notes of spice and citrus. Bitter orange, dark chocolate and black tea Aftertaste: The big finish is smooth with hints of licorice and a peppery tingle. Velvety feel, despite the fast alcohol

How to make a Sazerac Cocktail?

Ingredients: 3 oz rye whiskey 3/4 oz simple syrup Peychaud bitters to taste absinthe or absinthe substitute lemon twist for garnish
Preparation: Chill an old-fashioned glass by filling it with ice and letting it sit while preparing the rest of the drink. In a separate mixing glass, muddle the simple syrup and Peychaud bitters together. Add the rye whiskey and ice to the bitters mixture and stir. Discard the ice in the chilled glass and rinse it with absinthe (or substitute) by pouring a small amount into the glass, swirling it around and discarding the liquid. Strain the whiskey mixture from the mixing glass into the old fashioned glass. Garnish with a lemon twist. Traditionalists will say that the lemon twist should be squeezed over the drink to release its essences but that the twist should not be dropped into the glass itself.
