After a period of time in these glass balloons, the rum is transferred to more traditional whisky casks, but casks that have contained South African whisky, which is in fine symbiosis with the South African production. The Nkomazi sugar cane that the rum is made from is grown nearby and helps to give the unique character that Mhoba rum is becoming world famous for.
