Mates White Rum is a Blended Rum from Barbados, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, bottled at 40%.
Unlike many white rums, Mates White Rum is not just a young, neutral cocktail base. More than half of the blend is a 3 year old rum from Trinidad, giving the bottle more body and character than the clear colour suggests. The rest of the blend comes from Barbados, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, all put together by the Dutch spirits house Mates Spirits with no added sugar.
The result is a white rum that is more matured and slightly sweeter than most in its category, with clear oaky nuances beneath the fresh fruit.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Fresh and fruity with banana and pineapple, backed by a light oaky depth.
Palate
Round and lightly sweet with mango and a touch of citrus, plus clear traces of cask ageing from the Trinidad rum.
Finish
Short and fresh, with a final touch of tropical fruit.
