25th Whiskymesselogo whisky glass of 1 piece with single box, the ultimate whisky glass, used at almost all the biggest whisky fairs around the world, not least the Danish version.

    Note!
The logo is clearer in reality than in the picture.
More than 5 million have been sold worldwide.

Traditionally, there have been specific glasses for Cognac, Champagne, and various wines to cater to their unique characteristics. Surprisingly, Whisky—a noble spirit with a unique history—has not had its own distinct glass. Even now, in the 20th century, Whisky has been served in anything from a stemmed glass to a cut-crystal tumbler.

To rectify this lack of tradition for a good whisky glass, Glencairn reached out to the right experts: master blenders, to create the perfect and exclusive whisky glass. David Stewart, Robert Hicks, Richard Paterson, John Ramsey, Robert McElroy, and many of their connections were consulted. Efforts were made to involve leading marketing directors, publishers, and journalists involved in whisky—everyone more than willing to contribute their desires to the project. All contacted expressed the need for such a glass, one that could be suitable for both whisky novices and the highly experienced enthusiast; a glass that enhances the complexity and individual quality of each Whisky.

A very interesting observation emerged when opinions and market research were collected and studied. That is, everyone had more or less the same vision of the ideal glass, one that allows for nosing and drinking with a robust base. The combined efforts have resulted in the development of:

    "The Glencairn Glass."

"The introduction of this glass couldn't come at a more suitable time," says Richard Paterson, Master Blender. "Single malts and mature blends have become incredibly popular in recent years, and now we also have an ideal glass that enhances the enjoyment of nosing (aroma) and tasting. Like a really good whisky, this glass also has a lot of character."

Campell Evans, spokesperson for The Scotch Whisky Association, said at the presentation of The Glencairn Glass, "A new Scottish whisky glass, designed to reflect the quality of good Scotch and further promote it, can only be good for the Scottish whisky industry. I wish the glass the success it deserves."

The late Michael Jackson, author of the best-selling Malt Whisky Companion, has long advocated for enjoying the drink in a glass used by professionals. "A glass that retains the bouquet helps understand why malts are so special," he says. "The aroma from the barley malt, from the peat, from the sherry cask, and perhaps also from the sea where the whisky was aged... no other drink works this magic. The problem so far has been that the professional glasses have been too delicate for ordinary use in pubs.

"With the new Glencairn Glass, there's a glass with qualities appreciated by professionals and one that can be used."

He further states, "With this new glass, you can enjoy your whisky without looking like a snob. I hope whisky bars will embrace this glass, making it a symbol of appreciation for good whisky in general.
