Experimental de Christian Drouin 19 Year Old Calvados Cask Foursquare Angels is a French Calvados finished in rum casks from the Foursquare distillery on Barbados and bottled at 46.8%.

This bottling is the eighth release in Drouin's Expérimental range. A 17-year-old Pays d'Auge calvados was placed in eight French oak casks that had previously held rum from the respected Foursquare distillery on Barbados. After 17 months in these casks, the calvados was moved into fresh, re-charred casks for a further three months before bottling. The combined process brings the calvados to an effective age of around 19 years, and only 2,396 bottles were filled from this release.

Tasting notes

Nose

Roasted apple, vanilla pod and salted caramel, with a touch of pear drops.

Palate

Pine nuts and toasted almond meet pineapple and a light sweetness from the rum cask.

Finish

Medium length and nutty, where pineapple and toasted almond linger together.
