Exclusive release of micro-spirits Copenhagen gave way to a quiet world premiere when Danish microbrewery Mikkeller launched a range of micro-distilled spirits. Mikkeller is known worldwide for an experimental and innovative approach to brewing beer. Now the brewery is moving forward with micro-spirits under the name Mikkeller Spirits. The spirits line will be produced in collaboration with Braunstein in Køge. Initially, Mikkeller is launching a vodka, a gin, and a white dog plus a very special 'beer brandy'. The Beer brandy is distilled on Mikkeller's imperial stout 'Black' and is subsequently aged in various wooden barrels.

Historically this is moonshine liquor, the easily made spirit of local ingredients from the south. Yes, it's made rather easy, but the intense care, the quality of raw materials, the skills of Braunstein Distillery, makes this Mikkeller White Dog a smooth mofo to drink by itself or even better, high class standard liquor for cocktails. If you don't know the White Dog concept, don't be ashamed. This has by its criminal and secret birth been kept in the dark and since been put aside for the more famous Single Malt Whisky and Bourbons. Mikkeller re-introduces this fine liquor; this is the untanned but strong and reliable pale younger brother of the famous liquor styles. He will bark, not bite, he likes to mingle among friends, not to be the center of attention, not the outspoken mad dog kind of liquor, but he steps up when needed! Tasting notesMikkeller White Dog - Corn Whiskey before it sees a barrel. It's produced from unique and complementary malted barleys and corn. The aroma is of rich grain and cereal while the flavor has layers of dark chocolate, malt but yet sweet from the corn. The body of the whiskey is full, lingering on the palate with a surprisingly smooth and fresh finish. White Dog is released because it stands strong on its own and is a great companion to Mikkeller's barrel-aged versions.
