How much flavor, balance and complexity can be achieved in just 5 years old? The Mosgaard Cask Experiment Series #3 answers this question brilliantly.

It's no secret that Danish whisky often means young whisky. For some distilleries it's an economic issue, for others it's a conscious and clear choice. Mosgaard Whisky is among those who see a virtue in producing a tasty whisky in just a few years old. I remember talking to Mr. Mosgaard himself on the subject some years old years ago at a whisky fair. When I asked if we can expect older bottlings of Mosgaard Whisky in the future, the answer was something along the lines of "there's no way of knowing, but the fruity nuances in our whisky are most evident in the early years old ".

If there's one thing I associate with Mosgaard Whisky , it's the taste of fruit in all its forms! This must be partly due to the excellent and extremely active casks that are always used in the production of Mosgaard Whisky . Cask Experiment Series #3 undergoes aging in 3 different casks within just 5 years old.

For the first 2.5 years old, the distillate is aged in ex-bourbon quarter casks, followed by 1 years old in ex-rioja quarter casks and finally in ex-madeira boal cask for 1.5 years old. The result is nothing short of a complex flavor explosion. Although experimental and slightly alternative casks are used for the production, I think Cask Experiment Series #3 hits the essence of Mosgaard right on the nail. The price is a good bit above the price range of the standard range, but in return we get a whisky that is not watered down and is therefore bottled at 56.1% alcohol.
