In the old train depot in Nyborg, Funen, where freight wagons once waited, a distillery now makes whisky. Isle of Fionia Little Isle is where that story begins – gentle, fruity and matured in three very different cask types.
Expert description
Isle of Fionia Little Isle is an organic Danish Single Malt Whisky bottled at 43%. Distilled at Isle of Fionia / Nyborg Distillery in Nyborg, Funen, Little Isle is the primary entry into the distillery’s range. The whisky is matured in three cask types: first fill Bourbon casks, Port wine casks and STR casks – white oak casks that have been Shaved, Toasted and Re-charred to maximise cask influence without harsh tannins. The combination creates a rounded, fruity whisky with broad appeal. EAN: 5712631000087.

Did you know?
STR stands for Shaved, Toasted and Re-charred – a method for reactivating used casks by removing the depleted wood layer, then re-toasting and re-charring them. It delivers a different sweetness compared to a fresh first fill cask.
