The commemoration of the country's patron saint, St. Patrick, occurs on the day of his death on March 17th, 461, as he is believed to be the one who introduced Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century.

All over the world, happy Irish people gather to celebrate the day by drinking whiskey and listening to lots of music, often in Irish pubs or at parades where people dress in green and orange to symbolize Ireland.
