Hampden is where Jamaican rum pulls no punches – wild fermentation, copper pot stills and a funk that can't be mistaken for anything else.
Expert description
Hampden Estate 8 Year is a Pure Single Jamaican Rum distilled on pot still and bottled at 46%.
The rum comes from Hampden Estate in Trelawny, Jamaica, a distillery with roots dating back to 1753, known for its traditional high-ester production method using wild fermentation and nothing but its own spring water added. The rum is tropically matured for at least 8 years right at the distillery, with no added sugar or other additives, giving it the raw, intense character that has become a Hampden trademark.
Tasting notes

Palate
Dry and full-bodied with old wood, tropical fruit and resin, carried by a funky, ester-driven character from traditional pot still distillation.
Finish
Smoky and lightly salty with spice and dried fruit, where the tannins add extra substance.
