Between Guyana, Venezuela, and Barbados lies the country of Trinidad and Tobago, consisting, as hinted, of two islands, with Trinidad being by far the largest. Columbus set foot on Trinidad in the last years of the 15th century, and the islands have since been under both Spanish and British rule. Today, the country is an independent republic with a strong culture - a culture that, among other things, has given the world calypso music!

Along Trinidad's old main artery, the Southern Main Road, lay the Caroni distillery from 1918 until it was closed down in the early years of the new millennium. The distillery's aged rums are powerful, dry, well-balanced with woody and spicy notes, and a hint of chocolate towards the end.
