Post by Ulrik Bertelsen

Talisker distillery is one of the most well-known and beloved whisky distilleries on the Isle of Skye, which is part of Scotland. The distillery is located in the picturesque village of Carbost, surrounded by the rugged and beautiful Scottish landscape.

Talisker Founded in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, the distillery has a long history of whisky production. It is known for its unique single malt Scotch whisky, which has a distinctive smoky and spicy flavor.

One of the notable features of Talisker whisky is the use of local ingredients. The water used to make the whisky is sourced from a spring located in Cnoc nan Speireag (Cormorant Hill) and this gives the whisky its distinctive character and minerality.

The distillery uses traditional copper pot stills to distill their whisky, and they also use oak casks for maturation that have previously held sherry or bourbon. This contributes to the complexity and depth of flavor in Talisker whisky .
Talisker The distillery is also known for offering tours and visits where visitors can learn more about the history of the distillery and the art of whisky production. It's a great opportunity to experience Scotch whisky culture first-hand and taste some of the delicious drops from the Isle of Skye. Of course, there's also a visitor center where you can buy the good stuff and, if you're lucky, get a taste.

Using Talisker in cooking

Did you know that you can use Talisker whisky in food? In fact, we have created a cookbook called "Mad med promiller" together with cookbook author Jan Ohrt. He has created the recipe: Smoked cod with Talisker whisky , mash, coarse mustard and Brussels sprouts. See the full recipe here or buy a bottle of Talisker 10 years old and get the book for free (while stocks last)
