The rum is produced by Varela Hermanos at Hacienda San Isidro in Panama, the family company also behind Ron Abuelo. Like the rest of the Vintage series, the rum is column distilled from molasses and aged in American oak casks in Panama's tropical climate between the Pacific and the Atlantic. With 19 years of ageing, the 2005 vintage sits in the middle of the range, between the younger and the oldest releases.

The result is a balanced, dark rum, where dried fruit and caramel meet a warm, medium-length finish with a hint of spice.
