RL Seales Barbados rum 10 years old Export Proof 70cl / 46% Nose: Overripe banana, fruit cocktail, sweetness, melon, pineapple, vanilla, dried apricots and figs. Palate: Barrel, tart, spice, good sweetness at the end. Warming. Salty Finish: Oily molasses flavor, spicy, cinnamon and good length R.L. Seale & Co. Ltd, owner of Foursquare Distillery, is one of the greatest Bajan success stories of this century. The 100% Bajan-owned company is the third largest bottler in Barbados. And Mr. Seale is no less well-known than you might expect. Seale's distillery is known for distinctive Bajan products and innovation that have become a symbol of the island. However, the distillery is just the latest chapter in the success story... R.L. Seale & Co. Ltd. Has excelled for years as a bottler of fine rums. And the distillery sells more rum in Barbados than any other rum producer. Seale rum has been distilled by West Indian rum producers, but now Foursquare will give the distillery more flexibility and better control of the process. The latest distillation technology allows for lower temperatures in the stills, which helps to avoid overly aggressive boiling and toning down of the rum's nuances. At the same time, the new technology is energy-saving and can recycle more of the excess product that occurs during rum production. For example, CO2 is captured and filtered for subsequent use in soda production. The distillery has also integrated waste treatment. For example, the surplus molasses is used to produce protein-rich animal feed, whereas most other distilleries throw this waste into the sea, which can cause an imbalance in the ecosystem. In the future, hopefully all distilleries will adopt waste recycling systems... Rum drinkers are some of the most loyal consumers in the world and distilleries have typically avoided too many changes for fear of altering taste, color and anything else that might cause customers to flee. This deviation of modernization has resulted in increased costs and reduced efficiency. Here, technology has the advantage of making the best possible product and a conscience in terms of recycling integration. Everything sold from this company is blended and bottled at the facilities to maintain the high standard of quality control
