At Hacienda San Isidro in Panama, between the Pacific and the Atlantic, casks from 1998 have spent 26 years under the tropical sun maturing into this rare vintage rum.

    Expert Description

Ron Dos Mares 1998 Vintage Limited Edition 26 Year is a Panama Rum, aged for 26 years and bottled at 47.2%.

The rum is produced by Varela Hermanos, the Panamanian family company behind the historic Hacienda San Isidro, known for its work with the older sibling rum Ron Abuelo. Ron Dos Mares is distilled from molasses on continuous column stills and aged locally in American oak casks, where Panama's warm, humid climate between the two oceans drives a faster, more intense maturation than in cooler climates. The 1998 vintage is the oldest in the brand's Vintage series, given a full 26 years to develop its character.

The result is a deep, dark rum, where mahogany-toned dried fruit and spice meet a long, structured finish.
