About Jan Autzen Laursen

Hello all Whisky enthusiasts

Jan Laursen, 41 years old and living in Fredericia

My journey in the world of whisky began in a small cozy place in central Copenhagen. For the first time I went to a local bar where there was a whisky card, yes I'm a provincial boy, so it was new to me, and here you could choose from 10 different kinds of whisky, all of whose names I could not pronounce at the time.

I bought 2 tastings a Dalwhinnie 15 year Single Malt and a 10 year Laphroaig.

By both smell and taste I was sold on the spot and since then I have been a big fan of Laphroaig whisky and especially peated whisky.

For me, whisky is more than just a drink. It is an experience in ancient history, old craftsmanship, the taste of local grain and vegetation spiced with a good dose of tall tales from a time long gone. Today, whisky is a huge industry and there has been far too much focus on volume rather than taste.

Whisky just tastes better when enjoyed with others.
