Review of Compañero Gran Reserva

Review of Companero Gran Reserva

Post by Thomas Heie Nielsen

I don't want it to be full cask strength, high ester rum or otherwise nerdy rum. I set out to taste a 40% blend that has been on the market for a few years.

The rum is primarily a blend of four-year-old Worthy Park pot still, mark WPL (Worthy Park Light) and four-year-old column distilled rum from Trinidad Distillers ltd. from the distillery Angostura. In addition, there is unaged Worthy Park WPE (Worthy Park Extra) for fruity notes and power, and a 15-year-old Jamaica rum for depth.

Color:
Golden chestnut.
Aroma:
Ripe blue plums, some citrus, spice cake and milk chocolate. The Jamaica rum peeks out a little on the nose.
Taste:
The rum is both competent and soft at the same time. The soft column distillate combined with the slightly stronger and more potent pot still distillate complement each other very well. There are notes of nuts, citrus, dark spices, a little dry chocolate and a hint of licorice root.
Conclusion:
You can serve this rum to anyone. Both for the experienced rum geek and the beginner. Nice natural light dryness and a nice medium-long finish. A really good blend for the price. You get a lot of rum for your money here.

Meet theCompañero family.
Compañero Gran Reserva Ron Jamaica Trinidad Rum 40% is produced by the Danish importer and bottler 1423 World Class Spirits. And the rum actually has some brothers and sisters.

Compañero Ron Panama Extra Añejo 54%
A really delicious rum with a lovely character, high strength and lots of chocolate flavor. Try serving it instead of a Baileys with your coffee.

Compañero Elixir Orange Trinidad 40%
The name elixir reveals that sugar has been added. So much so that it shouldn't be called rum. But it is made with rum.

The

taste is orange and coconut.
NOTE: The new Comp

añero

Elixir Orange 40% is made from Jamaica rum and you can taste it.

Compañero Elixir Extra Jamaica and Panama 47%
The latest addition to the family tree is this spirit drink, which is a mix of the two popular Extra Añejo and Elixir Orange . The best of both worlds. There are lots of ripe sweet oranges and delicious chocolate in this rum-based drink. The alcohol has been raised slightly to 47%, which I think suits it really well.
