The opening chapter in a series that honours figures who left their mark. Grundtvig is number one in a Founders Series of Highland Park single casks, named after one of Denmark's most influential figures — a priest, hymn writer and educator.

    Expert Description

Highland Park Single Cask Grundtvig is a Single Orkney Malt Whisky, 13 years old, from a single cask and bottled at cask strength 61.3%.

The whisky is the first in a Founders Series of single cask bottlings, named after N.F.S. Grundtvig — priest, poet and one of the most influential figures in Danish cultural history. As a single cask release, the entire batch comes from one and the same cask, giving a concentrated and unaltered version of Highland Park's style.

The high cask strength means the whisky benefits from a little water, which opens up the layers of spice and fruit.

Frequently Asked Questions about Highland Park Single Cask Grundtvig

Why is the whisky named after Grundtvig?

It's number one in Highland Park's Founders Series, which honours influential figures through single cask bottlings — N.F.S. Grundtvig was a priest, poet and central figure in Danish cultural history.

What is a single cask bottling?

It means the entire release comes from one and the same cask, without being blended with whisky from other casks, giving a unique, unrepeatable flavour profile.

Is the whisky strong to drink at 61.3%?

Yes, it's bottled at cask strength, so a few drops of water are recommended to tame the strength and open up the flavour.

    Is it a good gift?

Yes, especially for the Danish whisky enthusiast who values both the cultural reference and a powerful, unspoiled cask strength.

How should this whisky be served?

In a tulip-shaped whisky glass, ideally with a few drops of water.

Is Highland Park Grundtvig worth it?

As a single cask release from the Founders Series, it's a rare, unrepeatable bottle whose value lies in the concentrated, unaltered version of Highland Park's style.
