Mac-Talla is Gaelic for echo and refers to the fact that the family's long history resonates across the island. The island Islay with its long tradition of whisky offers great experiences shaped by the elements. The three original whiskies in the series are named after the island's elements - Terra (earth), Mara (sea), Strata (rock). Now an additional gem has been added to the collection.
This limited edition single malt whisky from Mac-Talla is fully matured in French oak barrels that previously held French red wine from Bordeaux. The combination of the fresh and smoky Islay whisky and the fruity red wine creates an interesting and extremely tasty product. The whisky is bottled at cask strength at 53.8% alcohol and is only produced in a limited edition. The history of the Morrison family's Islay business begins with whisky merchant William Walker in the 1930s. Stanley P. Morrison began his apprenticeship at T. William Walker & Co. By 1951 it was time to strike out on his own and he set up his own whisky company 'Stanley P Morrison Ltd', working with many of the well-known blended whisky producers. In 1963, he bought Islay's oldest whisky distillery Bowmore (now owned by Suntory). Today, Stanley's son and grandson run the company behind Mac-Talla, which naturally belongs at Islay.
