Glenrothes 2005/2017 Douglas Laing 12 Years Old Particular Single Highland Malt Whisky 48.4%

This release from Douglas Laing’s Old Particular series shows Glenrothes from its rich, sherry‑influenced side. Distilled in 2005 and bottled in 2017 after 12 years in a single sherry butt (#DL11792), the whisky delivers both depth and intensity while retaining the elegance Glenrothes is known for.

The nose is full and warm with classic sherry notes: dark raisins, plums, caramelised sugar and a clear malt character. Beneath the surface are hints of spiced oak, cocoa and a light nuttiness that adds extra complexity.

The palate is rich and oily with layers of dark fruit, toffee, burnt sugar and a touch of dark chocolate. The influence of the sherry cask is pronounced but well balanced – the tannins provide structure without dominating. A mild spice and a hint of orange peel lift the overall profile.

The finish is long, warm and sherry‑intense with lingering fruit, oak and a soft sweetness that rounds off the experience.

A classic sherry‑driven Glenrothes in pure single cask style, bottled at 48.4% to preserve both power and balance. Ideal for those who enjoy deep, fruity and full‑bodied Speyside whiskies with clear cask character.
