Twelve years in cask is long for Danish whisky. And the PX sherry finish delivers exactly what long maturation asks for: depth, sweetness, and dark fruit.

    Expert description

Fary Lochan 12 Years XII PX 2011/2023 Batch 02 is a Danish Single Malt Whisky matured for 12 years and finished in PX sherry casks, bottled in 2023 at 59.1%, 50 cl. Fary Lochan distillery in Give, Jutland, uses locally grown grain and seasonal distillations as its foundation. PX – Pedro Jiménez – is one of the sweetest sherry styles, leaving deep raisin and dried fruit imprints on any whisky it touches. The XII series from Fary Lochan is dedicated to 12-year expressions. Non-chill filtered with natural colour.

    Did you know?

PX sherry is made from Pedro Jiménez grapes sun-dried before pressing – the concentration of sugar and flavour is significantly higher than in most other wine styles used for whisky casks.

Frequently asked questions about Fary Lochan 12 Years XII PX 2011/2023 Batch 02

What is the XII PX series?

XII denotes 12-year expressions from Fary Lochan. The PX suffix indicates that the whisky is finished in Pedro Jiménez sherry casks. It is one of the heavier and sweeter profiles in Fary Lochan's range.

    Is it worth it?

A 12-year Danish single malt with a PX sherry finish is genuinely rare. The maturation time and cask type combined with handcrafted production from a Danish craft distillery give it real collector appeal.

    What is PX sherry?

Pedro Jiménez is a sweet sherry made from dried grapes. Whisky casks that have held PX sherry impart intense sweetness, raisin, and dried fruit notes to whatever they finish.

    Should I dilute it?

At 59.1%, a little water is a good idea. It opens the fruity nuances and softens the alcohol intensity without losing the depth.

    What food pairs well?

Dark chocolate with high cacao content, pecan nuts or strong cheese like cheddar complement the sweet, dark profile well.

What is the difference between Batch 01 and Batch 02?

Fary Lochan bottles in separate batches – Batch 02 may differ from Batch 01 in cask selection, finishing time, and flavour nuances.
