Domaine Bott-Geyl traces its roots back to 1795, when Jean-Christophe Bott's great-grandfather Jean-Martin Geyl planted the first vines - today the estate is one of Alsace's most respected biodynamic houses.
Expert's Description
Bott Geyl Crémant de Alsace Extra Brut is a Sparkling Wine from Alsace, France, made from a blend of Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with an alcohol content of 12.5%. Jean-Christophe Bott took over the estate in 1993 at just 24 years old, and in 1996 was named winemaker of the year by Gault & Millau. He converted the estate to organic farming in 2000 and to biodynamic viticulture in 2002, convinced that only living soil can produce truly expressive wines. The estate today farms 18 hectares, including 6 Grand Cru sites, and the Crémant range is made using the same method as Champagne.
