Expert description of Poppels Winter Warmer 2025
Poppels Winter Warmer is the brewery's annual take on an English-inspired winter ale, brewed in Jonsered just outside Gothenburg. The style draws on the old tradition of hearty "warmer" beers meant to keep the body warm through the coldest months, and the 2025 edition is spiced with orange and cinnamon over a solid malt backbone. Poppels is known as Sweden's largest organic brewery, and Winter Warmer is built with the same craft approach as the rest of the range.
The malt gives the beer its russet colour and full body, while the added spices layer on a festive character. Bitterness stays restrained, letting the malt and fruit sweetness carry the beer, backed by a rich, almost syrupy texture.
