Sharp citrus, toasted nuts and leather, wrapped in the smell of freshly cut oak. Ecuador is not the first country you think of when someone mentions rum.
Expert Description
S.B.S Ecuador 2016 Bourbon and Virgin Oak Cask is an Ecuadorian Rum matured in ex-Bourbon and virgin oak casks and bottled at 57%. It is a single cask rum made from molasses and distilled in a column still in 2016. After 8 years in cask, 1423 World Class Spirits bottled it in August 2024 as part of the S.B.S Single Barrel Selection series.
Ecuador does not show up much in the rum world, but that is changing. S.B.S Origin Ecuador Malacatos won the award for best Daiquiri rum in a competition run by Rum Explorer, with judges from all over Europe. This bottle is a different style: dry and spicy, with a soft nutty character.
The finish is sweet, with caramel and vanilla.
Only 298 bottles were filled.
