Kilchoman European Tour 2026 matured in ex‑mezcal casks combines classic Islay smoke with the raw, green and earthy character of Mexican mezcal. The result is a whisky that feels both familiar and completely new at the same time.
The aroma opens with dry maritime smoke, seaweed, ash and citrus – everything you associate with Kilchoman. The mezcal casks add green agave, herbal notes, lime, white pepper and a dry minerality that gives the whisky a distinctly different edge. A gentle sweetness lingers in the background, reminiscent of grilled pineapple and sugarcane.
The palate is intense and vibrant. Islay smoke meets mezcal’s vegetal and lightly smoky agave profile, creating a complex and almost exotic combination. Notes of green chili, roasted spices, citrus, smoked almonds and the malt’s natural sweetness unfold. The texture is oily, and the 50% strength provides warmth without overpowering the details.
The finish is long, dry and smoky with clear minerality. Agave, citrus, dried chili and ash linger, while a mild sweetness rounds everything off. The mezcal casks contribute a salted, herbal character that makes this release both unique and memorable.
