During the Portuguese summer, when the heat of the Douro Valley lingers well into the afternoon, many locals reach for a bottle of White Port — not for the afternoon coffee, but for ice cubes and tonic water.
Expert's Description
Graham's Fine White Port is a Portuguese White Port from the Douro Valley, aged in oak casks and bottled at 19%.
White Port is made from white grapes, unlike the red grapes behind the Ruby and Tawny styles. After harvest, the grapes are pressed and the must ferments until the desired sweetness and strength are reached, at which point fermentation is halted by adding grape spirit, just as with the other Port styles.
Fine White is the lightest and freshest expression in Graham's range, made to be drunk young and lightly chilled, ideally as a refreshing aperitif rather than a heavy after-dinner liqueur.
