POPE Hurricane - a tropical classic with a modern twist

Let yourself be taken straight to the buzzing streets of New Orleans, where jazz fills the air and cocktails are served with character. It was here, in the heart of the French Quarter, that the Hurricane was created in the 1940s. Pat O'Brien, owner of one of the city's most iconic bars, had a storeroom full of rum, a spirit nobody really wanted. To get the rum moving, he created a fruity, colourful drink that quickly became a favourite among the city's party crowd.

Now POPE has breathed new life into the classic and made it even harder to resist. With its soft flavour and warm notes, POPE fits perfectly in this exotic cocktail, a real carnival in a glass.

Recipe - how to make your own POPE Hurricane:
Ingredients:
- 12 cl POPE
- 3 cl freshly squeezed lime juice
- 3 cl freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1.5 cl passion fruit puree
- 1.5 cl sugar syrup
- 1 cl grenadine

How to make it:

  1. Pour all the ingredients into a shaker with plenty of crushed ice

  2. Shake thoroughly so the drink turns ice cold and lovely

  3. Strain into a tall wine glass filled with crushed ice

  4. Garnish with a slice of orange and a cherry for the classic look if you like

The result? A fresh, fruity, seductive cocktail with tropical notes and a little history in every sip. Perfect for warm summer evenings, festive occasions, or simply when you want to treat yourself to something extra good.

POPE Negroni - an Italian icon with a tropical twist

The Negroni is a timeless classic from 20th-century Italy, known and loved for its elegant balance of bitterness and sweetness. About Pope Spirits:
Det Danske Vinkompagni is based in Kolding, Denmark. Besides trading good wine and spirits in very close cooperation with some of Denmark's leading wholesalers, the small company also has a declared mission to share and pass on knowledge about good wine and fine spirits. Claus Wilms has been doing exactly that since 1997, when he set up the little company together with his wife Anette.

This story begins on one of the first days of 1985, when Claus was hired as the youngest consultant in an old conservative wine company, given responsibility for the exotic north of Jutland. After four years came a two-year detour as a hotel director, after which he returned to the old company as a consultant, this time with southern Jutland and
Funen as his area. After six years of growing responsibilities, including at a couple of other wine companies, the foundation stone was laid for Det Danske Vinkompagni. And there it still lies.

All those years of experience have recently thrown the Wilms family into a new little adventure in the form of a spiced rum blended from some of the best of Guatemala, Nicaragua and Trinidad and Tobago. This blend, full of exotic fruit and spice, was shipped to Denmark, given good candy sugar and brought down to a comfortable 35% with mineral-rich spring water from Bornholm for a distinctive flavour and perfect balance.

Pope Rum is a thoroughly pleasant acquaintance. The nose is seductively exotic with notes of sweet citrus, vanilla and mild pepper, and the palate is warm, spiced, soft and exotic with a fine undertone from the 10 years in oak. It drinks nicely on its own but can easily take being shaken up with lime, orange, passion fruit and grenadine.
