Where the dry style is crisp and mineral, Ferdinands' white vermouth unfolds with a softer, spicier character - shaped by months resting in old Mosel oak casks.

    Expert's Description

Ferdinands Saar White Vermouth is a German vermouth made from Riesling from the Saar valley, bottled at 18% ABV. Like its dry sibling, this vermouth is built on a distillery's own quality Riesling from the acclaimed wine region Saarburger Rausch, but here the wine takes on a different character, having been aged in old Mosel Fuder oak casks before the herbs are added.

The vermouth comes from the same collaboration behind Ferdinands' other products, between master distiller Andreas Vallendar of Avadis Distillery in Wincheringen-Bilzingen and winemaker Dorothee Zilliken of Weingut Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken in Saarburg. A selected blend of regional herbs and flowers is added to the base wine, giving the vermouth its characteristic spiced yet floral style, a clear contrast to the tighter, drier expression of Ferdinands' vermouth.
