A Speyside distillery hides behind a single word: Enigma. No name on the label, no clue to which glen or burn shaped the spirit inside. Just a promise that after seventeen years in the dark, what is in the bottle can speak for itself.
The Expert's Description
Cadenhead's Enigma SPY.3.B is a 17 year old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, fully matured in Oloroso Sherry hogsheads and bottled at 46%. The Enigma series is where Cadenhead's tucks the distillery's name away and lets the flavour carry the whole story on its own. This bottling is the second time the firm has drawn from this same secret parcel — the first release, SPY.3.A, arrived in October 2025 at a cask strength of 64.5%, while this one has been brought down to a gentler 46%.
The whisky was distilled in 2008 and has rested in sherry wood ever since, until it was bottled in August 2026 in a run of 762 bottles. No chill filtration, no added colouring — just as the rest of Cadenhead's range has insisted on since 1842, showing the whisky exactly as it is.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Hay and ripe strawberries lead the way, with sultanas and a hint of blueberry close behind.
Palate
Orange marmalade and dark chocolate meet brazil nuts and a streak of acacia honey.
Finish
Salty, with chocolate honeycomb sweetness and a last whisper of cinnamon.

Did You Know?
SPY.3.B is not the first pour from this secret parcel. Back in October 2025, Cadenhead's released its sibling cask, SPY.3.A, at a fiery 64.5% cask strength — this 46% edition is the same mystery, just dialled down to a gentler sip.
